Dorsal soft rays (total): 10 - 12; Anal soft rays: 9 - 10. Three distinct, discontinuous, lateral stripes; short and robust gill rakers on ventral limb of first gill arch; a slightly oblique mouth; and lack of the first mandibular-canal pore (pore W).
