Description
Dorsal soft rays (total): 11 - 12; Anal soft rays: 8. Distinguished from all other species of the genus by its terminal mouth with an upwardly directed gape; absence of lateral line and head pores; scaled predorsal area; 8 1/2 branched dorsal rays; 14 branched caudal rays (Ref. 12040).
